Course Description
Informed by the work of SB14 artist Anwar Jalal Shemza, participants in this workshop will focus on the craft of traditional Islamic patterns. After learning about the different types of patterns and their origins, they will experiment with mixed media (e.g. oil on wood, canvas) and create geometric and biomorphic designs using traditional tools and methods. Demonstrations and hands-on practice will introduce participants to the processes involved.
