Overview
An evening of experimental and electronic music, audiovisual performances and interactive art installations by Aya Tarek (Egypt), Ayah Younis (Jordan), Basel Abbas (Palestine), Mohammad Nabil (Egypt), Sarah Faruki (Palestine),Shaikha Al Mazrou (UAE).
These projects were developed during Bytes and Pieces, an Arts and Technology workshop targeted at young Arab Artists and conducted by sound Artist Tarek Atoui. Over the last two years, Atoui has worked with more than 50 emerging and established artists in art and technology workshops organised in Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan and Sharjah. Six Artists selected from these Bytes and Pieces workshops were invited to Sharjah to develop and realise their projects, and take part in a collective presentation of the works produced on the evening of November 30.
The Bytes and Pieces workshop is part of series of workshops launched by Tarek Atoui in early 2010, for the Sharjah Art Foundation Education Programme. Conceived for students at both high school and university level as well as for practicing artists and technicians, this programme’s objectives are to raise sensibilities and understanding of the aesthetics, logic and approaches to new media in contemporary art, as well as to promote and encourage the practice and interaction with its various disciplines and new forms.
