Talk Description

In this conversation, Native Hawaiian artists Meleanna Meyer, Kahi Ching and Solomon Enos reflect on the collective process of creating the interactive mural Āina Aloha—first presented at Unreal: Hawaii in Popular Imagination, Bishop Museum, Honolulu (2019) and now on view at Khorfakkan Art Centre. This session follows a recent five-day workshop at Khorfakkan, where they also joined a group of local artists in the making of a new mural on the topic of water as a precious resource. The conversation will explore themes evoked by the mural projects, including intergenerational historical trauma, the movement towards healing through forgiveness and the process of creative collaboration across different cultures.
