Experiment with Light Photography
Family Workshop

Learn new tips and tricks for lighting techniques and props to improve your photography skills. View the installation Pursuit by SB15 artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen, which explores body movement and the use of light as a filmic experience. Then experiment with different forms of lighting to re-envision and recreate photographs using projections, reflection and playful lights.

Create Colourful Fabric Frames for Photos

After viewing printed images of artist Mounira Al Solh’s A day is as long as a year, a mixed media work that explores the personal history and heritage of women, create your own vibrant embroidery piece by combining fabric scraps to make a frame. Finish your work by adding a photo of a loved one, activity or scene to your frame.

Design with Gold Ink
Ages 11–15

Using gold ink on blue paper, create different prints and patterns inspired by SB15 artist Kambui Olujimi’s In The Dark, We Lose Our Edges and the architecture of The Flying Saucer. Olujimi’s work is an immersive site-specific installation comprising sculpture, sound and painting, with blue and gold as the dominant colours.
