Overview

Following a focused tour of SB13: Tamawuj at Al Mureijah Square, participants will gather at Bait Hussain Makrani for a talk and workshop about the medicinal properties of plants and herbs. Pointing out that the powers of natural remedies are often overlooked, Homa Al Hashimi will give a talk about plants and herbs available in local supermarkets, explaining how her background in biology as well as generation upon generation of remedies has shaped her knowledge of how to best use these plants to feed and heal her family. This talk will be followed by a walk through the vibrant spice souq, where participants will be introduced to the variety of available herbs and spices and their medicinal properties. Al Hashimi will demonstrate ways to make simple herbal remedy brews using different combinations of these ingredients.
