Overview
Sharjah Art Foundation invites you, your family and friends to join us on Friday, 15 January 2021, in Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, Arts Square, for Fridays at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, a weekly series of workshops designed for adults and children of all ages and abilities.
Come sketch the sights and sounds of the heritage area around Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, sculpt gypsum tiles, design a postcard and make colourful drawings using scratch pads of your own creation.

Live Sketching
Workshop for Youth and Adults
Date: Friday, 15 January 2021
Timings: 4:00 pm–6:00 pm
Location: Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, Arts Square
Ages: 15+
Languages: Arabic and English
In this workshop, participants will gather at Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, where the learning team will introduce them to some basic principles of sketching. They will then explore the area around Bait Obaid Al Shamsi and sketch different elements of the heritage house.
Sculpting Gypsum Tiles
Workshop for Children and Families

In this workshop, participants will learn an alcohol-inking technique for making tile art. First, they will paint directly onto ceramic tiles, creating different colour combinations and designs. After they finish painting, they will add small drops of rubbing alcohol to the surface of the tiles to reveal abstract and clouded images.
Designing a Postcard
Workshop for Children and Families

In this workshop, participants will learn how to design postcards using a variety of symbols. They will use different techniques to draw and write a message on the postcard that reflects their personality.
Scratch Art
Workshop for Children and Families

Languages: English and Arabic
In this workshop, participants will produce colourful drawings using scratch pads of their own creation. They will scratch designs on a black surface to reveal the colours underneath and create a colourful artwork.

• Visitor capacity inside the venue will be limited to ensure adherence to recommended social distancing rules.
