Basics of sketching
Workshop for Children and Families

Date: Sunday, 3 July 2022

In this workshop, participants will learn how to use graphite pencils for sketching, outlining, and shading. This art medium is convenient for beginner as it allows you to remake the work by erasing parts of the drawing. The participants will experiment with drawing objects seen in their surroundings.


Pen and ink techniques
Workshop for Children and Families

Date: Tuesday, 5 July 2022
Timings: 11:00 am–1:00 pm

Participants will learn how to use lines, dots and circles to create an ink drawing.
Ink is an art medium that is also used for outlining and adding colour to a drawing, or hand lettering and calligraphy.


Colourful still life
Workshop for Children and Families

Date: Thursday, 7 July 2022
Timings: 11:00 am–1:00 pm
Meeting Point: Collections Building
Ages: 11–15
Languages: English and Arabic



Participants will go on an excursion to Al Noor Island to view the butterflies house, surrounding trees and the architecture of the place. Participants will then draw still life and create outlines of butterflies, plants or any object seen in the surrounding. They will later add colour layering and burnishing techniques to add a more finished and realistic feel to their drawing.
