March Meeting 2012
Site, Situation, Location – Some Approaches to Producing Contemporary Art
Drawing on Artangel’s experience in commissioning and producing over 100 ambitious projects by contemporary artists, Lingwood will survey the multiplicity of different materials with which contemporary art can be made and the plurality of different places in which it can be experienced. Reflecting on site-specific sculptures including Rachel Whiteread’s House, Roger Hiorns’s Seizure and Roni Horn’s Library of Water in Iceland and location-based projects including Francis Alys’s Seven Walks and Jeremy Deller’s The Battle of Orgreave, Lingwood will consider some of the issues which inform and impact on the production and reception of art in a wide range of different situations.
