Overview

This presentation will offer an overview on the University Arts Exchange/United Arab Emirates Visiting Artist Residency Program and activities. Established in 2010 to foster a collaborative artistic dialogue between visual artists and writers from the United Arab Emirates and the United States, residencies and creative collaborations are at the core of this new initiative. Each year one to three artists or writers from the UAE are invited to be in residence in Philadelphia for eight weeks to produce new creative works and collaborate with the Masters of Fine Arts Program at the University of the Arts. This past year, the University of the Arts hosted Mohammad Kazem with the assistance of the Emirates Foundation and the MFA University Visiting Artists Fund, which resulted in Mr. Kazem producing an exhibition of work displayed at Gallery 224 at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, USA.
