Overview

Hoor Al-Qasimi, President and Director of the Sharjah Art Foundation, is a practicing artist who received her BFA from the Slade School of Fine Art, London, UK (2002), a Diploma in Painting from the Royal Academy of Arts (2005) and an MA in Curating Contemporary Art from the Royal College of Art, London (2008). She is Chair of the Advisory Board for the College of Art and Design, University of Sharjah, UAE, Member of Advisory Board, Khoj International Artists’ Association, India, and serves on the Board of Directors for MoMA PS1, New York, USA and Ashkal Alwan: The Lebanese Association for Plastic Arts, Beirut, Lebanon. She was on the curatorial selection committee for the 2012 Berlin Biennale, Germany and is a Visiting Lecturer at Slade School of Fine Art. Her recent curatorial projects include Drift - an exploration of urban and suburban landscapes (2011) and In Spite of it All (2012). Off Road, a solo exhibition of her photographic work was held at the Nevada Museum of Art, Reno, USA (2012).
