Book launch for Noor Abuarafeh’s SB13 commission, "The Earth Doesn’t Tell Its Secrets" - His father once said (2017). The novel revolves around the narrator’s fascination with the long-running myth of Palestine’s first museum. Several attempts to visit such a museum ended in failure and each proposal seemed to float between fact and fiction. After all the time spent obsessing over the museum, the narrator comes to see its future in the living rooms of family, friends and acquaintances. The novel assembles material based on collections found in the houses of people Abuarafeh knows. The novel is a compilation of existing collections, that the artist has interfered with, as well as new creations, inspired by subjective impressions and flights of fancy.
