Overview
In 1972, young Aboriginal activists erected the Aboriginal Tent Embassy in the lawns opposite Parliament House on Ngunnawal country (Canberra) in the form of a beach umbrella. Fifty years on, the Aboriginal Tent Embassy is the oldest continuing protest occupation site in the world, and the fight for land justice continues. Interrogating hours of archival footage through a First Nations lens, Still We Rise (2022) is a bold dive into a year of incendiary protest that celebrates the feisty activists whose resistance continues to inspire subsequent generations.
