Overview
Al Araba Al Madfuna II re-tells the parables Horsemen Adore Perfumes and The Offering by Egyptian novelist Mohamed Mustagab. As in his earlier film Al Araba Al Madfuna shown during Sharjah Biennial 11, Shawky’s film shows children dressed as grown-ups gathering and speaking in adult voices, narrating Mustagab’s tales. The settings are based on Shawky’s experiences in villages in Upper Egypt and the stories he heard while he was living there.
