Overview

The Power Station series records the interiors of two neighbour buildings, a power station and a residence. The oil-fuelled power station, built in the 1960s, has been recently decommissioned and the residence, built in the late 1920s, continues to be occupied. Gill’s comparative photographs offer a new vision for the two closed interiors that generate and contain such different kinds of energy, as well as documenting their shared, uncertain future, inscribed in their increasingly obsolete forms and use of resources.
