At just 30 years old, Kurdish-Syrian civil engineer Leila Mustapha is elected mayor of Raqqa, the former capital of the Islamic State. Her mission is to rebuild the city of 300,000 inhabitants, reduced to ruins after the war. Immersed in a still traditional male world, she endeavours to rebuild, to reconcile and to establish democracy in the city. Planning to write a book about Mustapha, a French writer crosses Iraq and Syria to meet her. In this still dangerous city, she has nine days to get to know this fascinating woman.
