Course Description
This workshop is inspired by the Sharjah Art Foundation exhibition Sharjapan: The Poetics of Space (21 November 2018–15 January 2019), which highlights book design in Japan, from art books to photography books. The exhibition brings together typography, page design, images and text and highlights books as 2D and 3D art made of unique materials.
In this workshop, participants will turn an old book of theirs into a personalized work of art. They will employ a variety of mixed media and paper crafting techniques, including collage, embellishing, stitching, rubber stamping, creative cutting, painting and paper folding.
