Build Pottery by Hand

Dates: Saturday and Sunday 27-28 January, Saturday 10 February 2024
Timings: 11:00 am–1:00 pm
Location: Collections Building, Arts Square, Sharjah
Languages: English and Arabic
Learn how to make ceramics without a pottery wheel. Following the traditional method, use your hands and basic tools to create a variety of forms. Practise standard techniques such as coil building, slab building, and pinch pottery. By the end of the first session, you will have created a handmade piece.
In the second session, delve into the processes of drying, glazing and firing pottery, and finish your pieces from the previous session by adding colour glazes and firing them in a kiln.
