Course Description
This course is a general introduction to the world of ceramics, which is one of the links between fine art and applied arts. Participants will be introduced to the basics of ceramics as well as ceramic moulding techniques, using either clay ropes or clay strips or a combination of both. They will also learn how to shape clay on an electric pottery wheel, and they will move from making simple shapes to working with more professional and complex techniques. Participants will create several ceramic pieces inspired by the ancient Islamic, Indian, Greek and Pharaonic civilisations.
