Sculpting (Beginner)

Course Description

<strong>Dates:</strong> Mondays to Thursdays, 12 October–17 December 2020
<strong>Timings:</strong> 2:00 pm–7:00 pm
<strong>Delivery method:</strong> Mondays and Wednesdays, in class;
Tuesdays and Thursdays, online
<strong>Ages:</strong> 17+


This course is a general introduction to sculptures and three-dimensional shapes. Participants will learn the art of sculpting and the relationship between mass and space. They will learn how to shape clay and explore the sculptural uses of gypsum and its treatment as well as the process of casting and extraction. Participants will learn to upgrade their work from an almost two-dimensional shape, such as a medal, to a fully three-dimensional shape, such as a human skull.
