Bait Al Shamsi Nights are back! Join workshops and meetups focused on music, skateboarding, still life drawing, photography, the history of Bait Obaid Al Shamsi and much more.
Designed for all ages and abilities, the programme takes place on Fridays, 11 November 2022 to 13 January 2023, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the heritage house Bait Obaid Al Shamsi, Arts Square. This event is free and open to the public.

Experiment with Still Life Drawing
Programme for Children and Families

Explore a range of mediums for still life drawing in the central courtyard of Bait Obaid Al Shamsi. Experiment with pencil, watercolour, charcoal and markers as you practise fundamental techniques and add your personal style to each still life work you create.
Design Hand-Painted Scarves

Using Vivan Sundaram’s Indeterminacy (1967) and Touch of Brightness (1966) as points of departure, fashion a hand-painted cotton scarf. Take inspiration from the playful abstract patterns in Sundaram’s work as you create a scarf with vibrant acrylic colours.
Paint to Digital Sound

How might you artistically interact with sound if you are unable to see? In this workshop, experiment with painting blindfolded in response to a variety of digital sounds. You will have your own space to sit and work on a canvas.
Music Meetup: Body Percussion

Meet up with other musical performers, hobbyists and enthusiasts for a jam session with musician Walaa Almahi, who will introduce you to body percussion. Rhythm is part of every kind of music, and in this session you will explore how to create rhythm and music using your body as the instrument.
