Overview
On 22 October, 2016, Sharjah Art Foundation launched its Autumn Community Programme starting with the Autumn Photo Walk, where a group of passionate photographers were invited to visit the ongoing exhibitions of Robert Breer: Time Flies, Arnulf Rainer: Overpaintings, Enrico David: Fault Work and Yayoi Kusama: Dot Obsessions and experiment creative videos and photographs using smart phone apps and filters of their own making. Robert Breer’s exhibition at the Flying Saucer served as the meeting point for the photographers from which they took time lapse and Boomerang videos whilst appreciating the movement of the artwork and the play of light and shadow of the evening sun. From there, the group then set out to Arnulf Rainer’s exhibition at Bait Al Serkal, where they were inspired to create their own photography filters using transparent sheets and paint, which they then used to take pictures through of #SAFneighbourhood and Port Khalid, giving their photographs an overall surreal effect. After touring Yayoi Kusama’s exhibition in Building I of the SAF Art Spaces, the photo walk concluded in SAF Urban Garden, where the group sat together for refreshments and shared their best photographs with each other.
