Overview
Introduction
The Sharjah Biennial 12 Education Programme held an Open Day for adults and children of all ages on Saturday, April 11. The day was filled with activities and workshops, where participants learned different art-making techniques.
Gary Simmons’ Cricket Oval was activated with cricket matches throughout the day, while the Activity Corner in Bait Hussein Abdul Rassoul offered a dynamic range of activities, where children were invited to express themselves through movement, dance and sound. XYZ, a sensory game by artist Eduardo Navarro was also played through various guided sessions.
Next door to XYZ, SAF Urban Garden was in full bloom inviting attendees to paint and draw landscapes inspired by the garden. Paintings and drawings were then displayed in the garden amidst baby tomatoes, chilies and basil grown by the community.
In a Plaster Casting Workshop, children and adults learned how to create and decorate casts of their own hands and arms. At the same time, adults and children worked together in a Mural Painting workshop inspired by the physical and architectural forms of the SAF Art Spaces.
More than 50 children participated in the SB12 Open Day along with their families and friends, as well as several visiting groups to SB12.
This Open Day was part of SB12 Education Programme which takes place every Saturday throughout the biennial. For more information, please click here.
