Overview
In collaboration with Sharjah Government Media Bureau’s Sharjah Events platform, Sharjah Art Foundation will present exciting workshops designed for children and families this month. The workshops, which introduce participants to various artistic practices that engage with the history and environment of the emirate, will take place in the city of Sharjah in Al Majaz and in the coastal town of Khorfakkan. Free to attend, the workshops are part of the #SeeSharjah campaign under the Sharjah Events platform which highlights the emirate’s diverse cultural offerings and encourages UAE residents and visitors to discover Sharjah’s extensive calendar of family-friendly events. The campaign includes a wide range of programmes including the workshops outlined below.
Taking place over two weekends this month, the workshops are part of the Foundation’s year-round Learning Programme. The first set of workshops, taking place on Friday, 5 February 2021, in Al Majaz Amphitheatre, catering to children of all ages and their families will feature activities such as painting while listening to music and designing a postcard. In these sessions, young participants will use the materials and supplies provided to create collaborative artworks with the guidance of an expert art educator.
Participants aged 16 and older will be happy to know that they can also join a number of adult-focused workshops in the second set of sessions scheduled to take place from 24 to 26 February 2021 in the Khorfakkan Amphitheatre. Led by practicing artists, the workshops range from sketching and archiving to painting and photography and are inspired by the coastal town’s historical, cultural and architectural environment.
Sharjah Art Foundation’s Learning Programme runs courses, workshops and activities throughout the year to encourage creative development and instill artistic practices in children, families, youth and art enthusiasts in Sharjah and across the UAE. Accessible and open to all, the Sharjah Art Foundation Learning Programme builds on the Foundation’s mission of providing an arts education that meets the needs of the community.
These workshops are open to all; however, prior online registration is required.
