Overview
Join us this Saturday for a day full of activities open to participants of all ages. Visit SAF’s ongoing exhibitions of artists Kamal Youssef, Robert Breer, Yayoi Kusama and Enrico David from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. Children will enjoy illustration, storytelling and farming workshops taking place at Al Madam Art Centre and Sharjah Arts Area. For adults, a number of workshops will be given starting from 1:00 pm, ending with a film screening of The Godfather: PII at 8:30 pm.
Children
Children will enjoy a day full of engaging workshops including a short farming course taking place at Al Madam Art Centre, and an open day taking place at Sharjah Arts Area.
As part of SB13 School, Short Course (Part 1): Introduction to Farming will introduce participants to the necessary skills for farming in the UAE and allow them to join in actual farm work. This workshop will take place at Al Madam Art Centre at 10:00 am.
Starting at 2:00 pm, children will enjoy an Open Day full of workshops. In the first workshop, they will be taken to the Souq area to engage with their surroundings and build a story out of the characters they choose to illustrate. In the second workshop, children will listen to a selection of stories from Kalila wa Dimna, a collection of animal fables, followed by a drawing session where they will draw the characters of the story on clay pots.
Adults
Starting on November 5, this four-session course will introduce participants to the basics of building a professional portfolio including portfolio formats, recommended contents and ways to modify a portfolio for different markets. Portfolio Building will take place at the Collections Building at 1:00 pm.
Taking place at SAF Urban Garden at 3:00 pm, Introduction to Vertical Gardening will demonstrate how self-sustaining vertical gardens can be built and assembled to fit any space.
Part of SAF’s Autumn Film Programme, The Godfather: PII will be screened at GH Courtyard, SAF Art Spaces at 8:00 pm.
All SAF events are free and open to the public.
