Biography
Khulood Al Atiyat joined the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation in September 2013 as a Manager in the Arts, Culture and Heritage Programme, where she is responsible for leading a number of initiatives aimed at supporting emerging artists and those interested in a career in the arts in the UAE, as well as introducing the arts of the UAE to an international audience. Amongst those initiatives are the National Pavilion of the UAE – La Biennale di Venezia and the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship programme. Previously the Assistant Director of Student Life at the New York University Abu Dhabi (2010-13), Al Atiyat was responsible for the department’s intercultural a airs. She led projects and programmes designed to help international students learn about, assimilate into and interact with Emirati culture and the Emirati community. Al Atiyat worked at the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding where she became the Public Relations and Events Director (2006-10). During her time there, she was responsible for educating the diverse expatriate community about UAE culture, its people and its social etiquette. Al Atiyat conducted these sessions for offcial government delegates, local and international business corporations, schools and universities, as well as individuals who were simply curious to know more. Al Atiyat holds a BA in Public Relations and Advertising with a focus on Tourism and Special Events from Zayed University, Dubai. She is also a certified Inter-Cultural Intelligence practitioner and instructor.
