Overview
His Excellency the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman Mohammed bin Nasser Al Owais holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems from the University of the UAE and became the Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Youth and Community Development in 2006. He was and still is a member of the governing bodies of the most important institutions in the UAE, including: membership in the Board of Trustees of Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Institute (1992-present), membership in the Governing Council of the Sharjah Islamic Bank (1994-present), board member of Emirates Media (2001 – 2006), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for regulating the telecommunications sector (2004-2005), board member of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sharjah (2004-2006) and board member of the UAE Real Estate Bank (2004-2006). The Minister has diverse cultural interests, especially in Arabic calligraphy and the fine arts.
