Biography
Alexandre Kazerouni is a professor and researcher in political science who specialises in contemporary aspects of the Muslim world and its cultural objects.
Currently Associate Professor at École normale supérieure (ENS) in Paris, Kazerouni teaches at Paris Sciences and Letters University and the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (Sciences Po). He is Chair of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Studies, Paris Sciences and Letters University, at the École normale supérieure, where he is currently conducting research on higher education in the Middle East. He is also a member of the Centre Jean Pépin, where he is working on libraries in the contemporary Muslim world.
Kazerouni’s published doctoral thesis, Le miroir des cheikhs. Musée et politique dans les principautés du golfe Persique (Presses Universitaires de France, 2017), compares museums in the Arabian Peninsula in the 1950s to more recent museums in the region. He has written peer-reviewed articles on the art market in Dubai and cultural policies in Sharjah. His writing also includes essays on artists from the Arab world, including Farid Belkahia, Hassan Sharif, Younes Rahmoun and Abdulnasser Gharem.
Born in 1979 in Tehran, Kazerouni currently lives and works in Paris.
