Biography
Asim Altokhais is a film producer, screenwriter and novelist. He is also the co-founder and general manager of 3rd action, Inc, a company specialising in screenwriting and comics.
Altokhais’ short film Meeting with the Devil, produced by 3rd action films, was an official selection at the London International Motion Picture Awards LIMPA (2019); Dumbo Film Festival, New York (2019); and London City Film Festival (2018). His film X-13, an official selection at the Underground Indie Film Festival - Horror Cult Sci-Fi Fantasy (2017) and International Feedback Film & Screenplay Festival (2017), reached the semi-finals at the European Cinematography Awards (2018) and won the best short film script at the Canadian Feedback Festival (2017). His script for the short film Intertwine won first place at the Screenwriters' Pitch competition (2018), which was organised by the American Film Showcase, Nebras Films and the US embassy in Riyadh.
3rd action and Altokhais were shortlisted by Disney to join a team of several international writers to write a new comic book with 73 stories (2016–2017). Altokhais was the only writer from the Middle East. His graphic novel, Alaa: The Bounty Hunter, won Children’s Book of the Year from the Arab Thought Foundation at the Kitab 21 competition (2015).
In his weekly column for Makkah Newspaper, he writes about expanding the culture of cinema and reviews local and international movies.
Altokhais holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from King Saud University, Riyadh (2003), and earned a diploma from the Vancouver Film School (2011), with a major in Writing for Film and TV. He is currently studying for an MA at Falmouth University, UK (2019-2021).
Altokhais was born in 1981 in Riyadh, where he continues to live and work.
