Biography

Artist and researcher Beatrice Catanzaro (b. 1975, Milan) is an artist, researcher and lecturer. She teaches at NABA - Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan and the Accademia Unidee at Cittadellarte - Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella, Italy. Previously, she taught at the International Academy of Art Palestine in Ramallah (2012–2015). She earned her PhD from Oxford Brookes University’s Social Sculpture Research Unit. Catanzaro's practice-based research questions the matrix of hegemonic social structures and imaginaries through dialogical processes grounded in long-term engagements and interdisciplinary collaborations. In 2010, she co-founded Bait al Karama, a social-cultural centre in the Old City of Nablus, Palestine. Her work has been exhibited in several museums and international venues, including MART Museum, Rovereto; Fundacao Gulbenkian, Lisbon; Land Art Mongolia biennial; Al Ma’mal Foundation, Jerusalem; Espai d'Art Contemporani (EACC), Castellón, Spain; and Rome Quadriennale.
