Biography
Frederico Beja’s work spans different platforms, including TV commercials and both short and feature films.
His advertisement for Coke, Coca-Cola–Taking Home Happiness, was shortlisted at Cannes Lions, France, and received the Silver Award at Dubai Lynx (2016). Among his film and video awards are Best Film for Metamorphosis, Santa Ana International Film Festival, Los Angeles, and Cumeta Film Festival, Portugal; Best Documentary for Abbas 43, Sunbird Film Festival, Palestine; Best Music Video for Talking with Ghosts, Black and White Film Festival, Portugal; and Best Film for the docudrama Remember Us, Avanca International Film Festival, Portugal. He directed the short experimental film Tokyo to Hong Kong (2015) and was the producer and cinematographer for Remember Us (2015), directed by Dalia Abuzeid.
Beja conducts a directing and cinematography class at SAE Institute Dubai and is a guest lecturer at the University of St Joseph, Macau. Previously, he was head of the Film and TV department at SAE Institute Amman (2010–2012) and was a guest lecturer at Middlesex University in Dubai (2014). He is also a founding partner of the Portuguese production company Concept View, which has branches in Portugal, Jordan, the UAE and the US.
He holds a BA in Sound and Image from the School of Arts, Porto (2007) and an MFA from the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles (2009).
Born in 1981 in Porto, Portugal, he currently lives and works in Dubai.
