Doryun Chong

Biography

He oversees all aspects of curatorial activities, including collection, exhibitions and symposiums, and learning and interpretation, while serving on the team that oversees the design of the museum building. Chong was Associate Curator of Painting and Sculpture at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York (2009 - 2013), where he organised solo presentations of Ernesto Neto, Bruce Nauman, and Henrik Olesen and the exhibition Tokyo 1955-1970: A New Avant-Garde. He also co-edited MoMA International Programme’s From Postwar to Postmodern, Art in Japan 1945 - 1989: Primary Documents (2013). He worked as curator at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis (2003 - 2009), where he organised a number of exhibitions, including retrospectives of Huang Yong Ping (2005) and Tetsumi Kudo (2008).
He has contributed to a range of periodicals, including ArtAsiaPacific, Artforum, Parkett, Afterall, Bijutsu Techo (Japan) and Art in Culture (Korea). Chong lives and works in Hong Kong.
