Biography

Susanna Chung is Head of Learning and Participation at Asia Art Archive (AAA). Initiating the department in 2007, she has worked extensively to raise public awareness of the arts in Hong Kong and across Asia through educational projects, such as What is your dream museum? which used an innovative approach to open up discussion on the nature of museums in Hong Kong and India, and Mobile Library which circulated books in Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Myanmar by providing a platform for the exchange of ideas through partnership. Chung has participated as a speaker and moderator in a number of art education forums in Hong Kong, and internationally, including Art Educators Conference: Making Art a Part of Daily Life for Young People (2013), organised by Asia Society Hong Kong Centre and Worlds Together (2012), a conference organised by Tate Modern, the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre and the British Museum. She was awarded the Starr Foundation Fellowship by the Asian Cultural Council in 2010 to research audience development and education programmes at various art institutions across the United States. Chung was the recipient of the Hong Kong Arts DevelopmentCouncil’s Arts Administration Scholarship (2013), for her Master of Educational Studies at the University of Hong Kong. Her research reflects on practices of alternative learning platforms that allow independent thinking and connecting ideas to reimagine new possibilities of learning about art and our society. She was recently selected to present at the Young Researcher Panel of the 3rd Conference of the Asia-Pacific Network for Cultural Education and Research (2016).
