Daniel Fernández Pascual & Alon Schwabe

Cooking Sections (Daniel Fernández Pascual & Alon Schwabe) is an independent duo of spatial practitioners. They explore the systems that organise the world through food. Using installation, performance and mapping, their research-based practice operates within the overlapping boundaries between visual arts, architecture and geopolitics.
Recent projects include The Empire Remains Shop (2016), a public installation that speculates on the possibility and implications of selling back the remains of the British Empire in London today. Their book about the project will be published by Columbia University Press (2017). Commissioned by Atlas Arts, their ongoing Climavore project, focusing on the making of the coast of Britain, will be launched in the Isle of Skye, Scotland (2018).
Their work has been shown at the Oslo Architecture Triennale (2016); Parckdesign, Brussels (2016) and US Pavilion, Venice Architecture Biennale (2014) and has also appeared at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Glasgow International; Arnolfini, Bristol, UK; Fiorucci Art Trust, London; The Showroom, London; Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow; De Appel, Amsterdam; dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel, Germany; Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin; Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam; Museet for Samtidskunst, Roskilde, Denmark; CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid and UTS Art, University of Technology, Sydney, amongst others.
Cooking Sections have recently been selected for a residency at Headlands Center for the Arts, San Francisco, where they will research the financialisation of the environment in California. They were also residents in The Politics of Food programme, Delfina Foundation, London (2014). They lecture regularly at international institutions and lead a studio course at the Royal College of Art, London. Their writing has been published in Sternberg Press, Lars Müller, Volume, The Avery Review and The Forager.
Both Fernández Pascual and Schwabe were born in 1984. Cooking Sections was founded in 2013 in London.
