Biography

The work of sculptor and filmmaker Marcel Dinahet is an exploration of the sea and coastline. Recording movements of people and natural elements, Dinahet produces images that affect viewers both physically and emotionally.

His solo exhibitions include Bruler ses vaisseaux [Burning the boats], Alliance Française de Bogota, Colombia (2015); VU [Seen], part of an initiative of Frac Bretagne, Ancient Presbytery and walk through the city, Saint-Briac sur Mer, Brittany, France (2013); Regarder la mer [To look at the sea], CRAC, Languedoc Rousillon, Centre d’Art de Sète, France (2012) and Marcel Dinahet: Sky/Canal/River, Phoenix Gallery, Exeter (2011). His work has also been featured in group exhibitions at the Palácio Pombal, Lisbon (2016); Museu es Baluard, La Palma, Majorca (2015); Kyoto Art Center (2014); Nitéroi Museum of Contemporary Art, Rio de Janeiro (2014) and the Architecture Biennale, Venice (2014), among others. His work is also part of the new acquisitions at the Musée d’Angers, France (2016).

Dinahet took part in the Résidence flottante [residency at sea] (BOAT©), Ushant, France (2016) and the Suspended Spaces #02 residency, Cyprus (2008). He has also participated in residencies in Rio De Janeiro, Tapei, Moscow, Kaliningrad and Kronstadt.
