Biography
Federica Bueti is an art critic, editor, researcher and curator. She is the founder of …ment, a journal for contemporary culture, art and politics, and is currently Head of Publications at SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin. Her research focuses on the feminist politics of writing, reading and desire.
She co-curated the exhibition ECOLOGIES OF DARKNESS (Building Ground on Shifting Sand), SAVVY Contemporary, Berlin (2019), and she initiated the research, exhibition and performance projects We Who Are Not the Same (2018) and Speaking Feminisms (2017) with artist Nathalie Mba Bikoro and curator Elena Agudioand, also at SAVVY Contemporary.
Bueti regularly writes on art and social theory for art magazines such as Spike Art Quarterly, Ocula and frieze as well as critical anthologies and artist monographs. She co-edited We Have Delivered Ourselves from the Tonal – Of, With, Towards, On Julius Eastman (Archive Books, 2019), Whose Land Have I Lit On Now – Contemplations on the Notion of Hostipitality (Archive Books, 2019) and The Incantation of the Disquieting Muse: On Divinity, Supra-Realities or the Exorcisement of Witchery (The Green Box, 2017). She is currently editing a monographic publication on the work of artist Ibrahim Mahama (forthcoming with Sternberg Press).
She earned a BA in Cultural and Media Studies (2004) and an MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies (2007), both from the University of Milan. She also holds a PhD in Critical Writing in Art and Design, Royal College of Art, London (2018).
Born in 1982 in Scilla, Italy, she currently lives and works in Berlin.
