Biography
Visual artist and researcher Gabriela Golder works primarily in experimental video art and audiovisual installation art; her practice raises questions related to memory, identity and labour issues. She is a professor at the National University of Tres de Febrero, the director of the Biennale of Moving Images and curator of El Cine es Otra Cosa, an experimental film and video series at the Museum of Modern Art, Buenos Aires.
Golder’s work has been exhibited at numerous international venues, including Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de Chile (2020); 21st Bienal de Arte Contemporánea Sesc_Videobrasil, Sao Paulo, Brazil (2019); Bienalsur, Buenos Aires (2019); Jakarta Biennial, Indonesia (2017); Whitechapel Gallery, London (2017); Dazibao, Montreal (2016); Dissonance, Getty Center, Los Angeles (2016); La Maison Rouge, Paris (2015); DEAF, Rotterdam (2014); Monitoring, Kassel (2013); Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw (2013); 10th Sharjah Biennial (2011); Museum Morsbroich, Leverkusen, Germany (2011); and 10th Havana Biennial (2009).
She has received numerous awards, including Estado da Arte, the 21st Biennial of Contemporary Art Sesc_Videobrasil, Brasil (2019); BA Sitio Específico, Argentina (2014); Luis Espinal-Mostra CineTrabalho Award, Brazil (2011); Ars Electronica, 80+1 Project, Austria (2009); Sigwart Blum Award from the Association of Art Critics of Argentina (2007); Media Art Award from the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM), Germany (2003); Grand Prize at VIDEOFORMES–International Digital Arts Festival, France (2003) and Tokyo Video Award, Japan (2002).
Golder was born in 1971 in Buenos Aires, where she continues to live and work.
