Biography
The work of Shadi Habib Allah navigates across networks of people, technologies, objects, images and the economy. Ranging from film, sculpture and drawing to installation, his work examines the interrelation between notions of being, use and value as well as the social and historical structures that define them.
His mixed media installation 30KG Shine (2017) was commissioned by Sharjah Art Foundation and exhibited at Sharjah Biennial 13 (2017). His work has also been shown at Portikus, Frankfurt am Main (2016); New Museum Triennial, New York (2015); Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome (2013); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2013); Palestine c/o Venice, 53rd Venice Biennale (2009); Riwaq Biennale, Ramallah (2009) and Tate Modern, London (2007).
Habib Allah has twice won second prize in the Young Artist of the Year Award from the A. M. Qattan Foundation. He also received the Louis Comfort Tiffany Award (2012) and was shortlisted for the Luma Award (2011). He has been an artist in residence at the Delfina Foundation, London; Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella, Italy and Gasworks, London. He received his BFA from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem (2003) and his MFA from Columbia University, New York (2010).
Born in 1977 in Jerusalem, Habib Allah lives and works between New York and Palestine.
