Biography
Between 1992 and 2003, Kurt Hentschläger worked collaboratively with the Artists Ulf Langheinrich of ‘Granular-Synthesis’. He is currently a full-time visiting Artist at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. The immersive nature of his work reflects on the metaphor of the sublime and the human condition in the 21st century. His current work continues to investigate the nature of perception and the impact of new technologies on both individual and collective consciousness.
Hentschläger’s work has been shown internationally at institutions and events including, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, The Netherlands, MoMA PS1, New York, USA, Creative Time, New York, USA, Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal, Canada, Museum for Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria, The National Art Museum of China, Beijing, National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, South Korea, and Museum of Old and New Art, Hobart, Tasmania and the Venice Biennale.
In 2012 Hentschläger was commissioned to create the large-scale installation CORE as part of the cultural programme for the Olympic Games held in London, UK. In 2010 he won the Quartz New Media Arts Award in Paris, France.
