Biography
Carsten Höller’s work has been shown internationally over the last two decades, including in solo exhibitions at the New Museum, New York (2011); Hamburger Bahnhof Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin (2011); Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, the Netherlands (2010); Kunsthaus Bregenz, Austria (2008); MASS MoCA, North Adams, USA (2006); Musée d’Art Contemporain, Marseille, France (2004); Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, USA (2003) and Fondazione Prada, Milan, Italy (2000).
Recent group exhibitions include the Echigo-Tsumari Art Trienniale, Niigata, Japan (2012); Invisible: Art about the Unseen, 1957–2012, Hayward Gallery, London, UK (2012); The Promises of the Past, Centre Pompidou, Paris (2010); São Paulo Bienal, Brazil (2008); Theanyspacewhatever, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (2008) and Ecstasy: In and About Altered States, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, California, USA (2005).
In 2006, Höller conceived Test Site for Tate Modern, London. In 2005, he represented Sweden (with Miriam Bäckström) at the Venice Biennale, Italy.
