Biography
As a photographer and visual storyteller, M’hammed Kilito focuses on capturing narratives that are embedded in understanding the relationship between his collaborators and their environments, by covering issues related to cultural identity, the sociology of work and the human condition.
Kilito’s solo exhibitions include Portrait of a Generation, Open Studio, Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL), Marrakech (2019); and On est ensemble, MAXXX Project Space, Sierre, Switzerland (2018). Among his group exhibitions are ‘Barzakh بَرْزَخ. Kilito’s awards and grants include the Contemporary African Photography Prize (2020); Magnum Foundation grant for Global Covid Projects (2020); Photography Prize of Foundation des Treilles, France (2020); National Geographic Award, New York (2019); and Visual Art Project Grant, Ministry of Culture of the Kingdom of Morocco (2016).
He holds a BA in Software Engineering from University of Ottawa (2007); a BA in Political Science from University of Montreal (2010); and an MA in Political Science from University of Ottawa (2012).
Kilito was born in 1981 in Lvov, Russia. He currently lives and works in Rabat.
