Biography
Nsenga Knight is an artist, filmmaker and arts educator. Her recent talks include Art + Activism + the Archive, at the Stanford L Warren Library, Durham (2015), American and Othered at The Muslim Protagonist 2014: A Synthesis of Journeys symposium at Columbia University, New York (2014), Searching for Form in the Desert presented at the Gilles Deleuze Symposium at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (2009), Legacy of Islam in America: The Trans-Atlantic Voyage and Beyond and Art as Transformation at the Islamic Society of North America Annual Conference, Washington (2009) and the Science Art and Metaphysics Conference at the United Nations, New York (2007). She has presented artist talks at Duke University in Durham, the Malcolm X and Dr Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, New York, Ursinus College, Collegeville, Elsewhere Museum, Greensboro and Project Row Houses, Houston. Knight has exhibited at the Contemporary Art Museum, Houston, New Museum for Contemporary Art and MoMA PS1, New York, the John and June Alcott Gallery at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill, Project Row Houses, Berman Museum of Art, Smack Mellon, Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Art and Amistad Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania, among others. Knight earned an MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Film Production from Howard University. She lives and works in Durham, North Carolina.
