Biography
A lifelong political activist, Rachida Madani is a poet, novelist and painter. Her publications include the novel L’histoire peut attendre [History can wait] (2006) and three volumes of poetry: Ce Qui Aurait Pu Demeurer Silence [That which could have remained silence] (2015), Contes d’une tête tranchée [Tales of a severed head] (2001) and Femme je suis [Woman I am] (1981). Blessures au vent [Wounds in the wind] (2006) is a republication of two previous volumes of poetry.
A literature graduate, she taught the French language in secondary school for 30 years. She is one of the founding members of a NGO for the assistance of women in difficulty and also the volunteer director of an establishment for the hearing and speech impaired.
