Biography

Lina Matta is a curator, director and producer of film, television and online programming.

As Director of MBC 2, MBC 4, MBC Max and MBC Variety, Matta coordinates the programming strategy and vision of the channels while working on achieving the ratings and financial targets set. Prior to working at MBC, she relaunched Dubai One, Dubai Media Incorporated's English-language TV channel. She is also the founder and curator of ANA Contemporary Arab Cinema, an annual film series celebrating the best Arab directors working today. The series takes place at the Jacob Burns Film Center in Westchester, New York, and the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Matta is also the co-founder of the New York-based Brown Hats Productions, which produced the two award-winning documentaries Running for Bogota and Prison Lullabies and the American online literary talkshow Titlepage.tv. Brown Hats also runs the annual ANA film series.

Matta sits on the advisory board of the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication at the American University in Dubai. She is also a voting member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and a member of the selection committee for the UAE Submission to the Foreign Language Film Award category at the Academy Awards.

She lives and works between New York, Dubai and Beirut.
