Biography
Mirwan Andan is the artistic director and co-founder of Riwanua. He is also a part of the Jakarta-based art collective ruangrupa—the artistic directors of documenta fifteen (2022). He studied French literature at Unhas, Makassar and Comparative Politics and Southeast Asian Studies at Universitas Indonesia. His publications include 20Kuldesak: Networking, Rebelling, Maneuvering, Moving and Hilmar Farid’s Perang Suara: Bahasa dan Politik Pergerakan. Andan has participated as a speaker in several forums, including Is It Art That Remains (To Be Seen)?, Khoj International Artists' Association, New Delhi (2023); Planétarium #10, Centre Pompidou, Paris (2022); Curator’s Intensive Taipei 19 (2019); State Independence: A Global Forum in Alternative Space, Los Angeles (2011); and Asia Art Forum, Seoul (2010). He served as the advisor for the General Director of Culture at the Ministry of Education and Culture in Indonesia (2016–2018).
