Biography
Choreographer and dancer Radouan Mriziga’s performances explore the relationship between movement, construction and composition. Focusing on human beings as the makers of their surroundings, Mriziga’s solo and group choreography forges links between the body in motion and the expression of form in everyday materials and the architecture of our built environment.
Mriziga’s performance 7 (2017) has been co-produced by Sharjah Art Foundation (SAF). SAF further contributed to the work’s development by hosting a ten-day residency in Sharjah, providing crucial rehearsal space and production support. This solo performance is the last in a trilogy that includes 3600 (2016) as well as 55 (2014), which was featured in the exhibition Time is Out of Joint (2016), curated by Tarek Abou El Fetouh and presented at Sharjah Art Foundation.
Mriziga’s performances have been presented internationally, including at Marrakech Biennale 6; Sharjah Art Foundation; Asian Cultural Complex, Gwangju; Alkantara, Lisbon; Short Theatre, Rome; Kunstenwerkplaats Pianofabriek, Brussels; WP Zimmer, Antwerp; Charleroi Danses, Centre chorégraphique de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Charleroi, Belgium and Kaaistudios, Brussels. He has worked with a number of well-known choreographers, including Bart Meuleman, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Claire Croize and Simon Tangy.
He studied at the Mediterranean Centre of Contemporary Dance (CMDC), Tunis (2006) and Performing Arts Research and Training Studios, (P.A.R.T.S), Brussels (2008–2012). He is currently artist-in-residence at Kaaitheater, Brussels (2017–2021).
Mriziga was born in Marrakech in 1985 and currently lives and works in Brussels.
