Biography
Dala Nasser’s work examines how representational concerns taken up in painting and art practice might develop in tandem with the urgent need to account for dramatic environmental change.
Nasser’s work has been featured in a number of group exhibitions, including touché! (gesture, movement, action), Beirut Art Center (2019); Lateral Recovery Position, Bétonsalon - Centre d’art et de recherche, Paris (2019); Body, L’INCONNUE, Montreal (2018); That is Water, That is Earth, Marfa Projects, Beirut (2018); Surface Work, Victoria Miro, London (2018); The Pain of Others, François Ghebaly Gallery, Los Angeles (2018); Ghosting of Beings and Worlds, Grey Noise Gallery, Dubai (2017); 32nd Salon d’Automne, Sursock Museum, Beirut (2017); Sharjah Biennial 13 (2017); Sfera exhibition, Aïshti Seaside Complex, Beirut (2016) and Degree show, Slade School of Fine Art, London (2016).
She has received the Emerging Artist Prize, 32nd Salon d’Automne, Sursock Museum, Beirut (2017) and the Boise Travel Scholarship, University College London (2016). She participated in a residency at Ashkal Alwan, Beirut (2017).
Nasser earned a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design from Central Saint Martins, London (2012) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus on painting from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (2016).
She was born in 1990 in Beirut, where she continues to live and work.
