Biography
Felix Mathias Ott is currently based in Berlin and works internationally as a choreographer in the field of contemporary performing arts. Ott’s father, a German actor, inspired his interest in theatre, which he further developed by studying stage design. He returned later to his performative roots with a course in Contemporary Dance, Context and Choreography at Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT), in cooperation with UdK and Ernst Busch Hochschule, Berlin. Ott works as a stage designer, video artist, dancer, actor, author and choreographer, collaborating with artists such as Krzysztof Warlikowski, Boris Charmatz, Yves-Noël Genod, Maud le Pladec, Mathilde Monnier, Bjorn Melhus, Clément Layes, Tino Sehgal and others. His work is currently being supported by apap (advancing performing arts project), City of Berlin and Goethe Institut. Creating reflective spaces where spectators are invited to discover their own unconscious world, Ott attempts to transform reality into surrealist fiction, concentrating on the ways in which we receive information and are influenced by manipulative slogans.
