Claudia Pagès

Biography

Claudia Pagès’ practice addresses the effects of language, organisation and popular culture on social relationships and community structures. Through performance, text, music and installation, her projects have explored the links between language and addiction, examined performance in the context of a staged audition and considered hair as an object of research on growth, labour and gender.

Pagès’s work has been featured in a number of solo and duo exhibitions, including Talk Trouble, La Capella, Barcelona (2017); Ejercicios en torno al concepto de posverdad, Salón, Madrid (2017); You fall with rage, Museu Abelló, Mollet del Vallès, Spain (2016); Throat and Column, A Festival of Choices, Rongwrong, Amsterdam (2016) and Empathy and Burnout, P/////AKT platform for contemporary art, Amsterdam (2015).

Recent performances and readings by Pagès have taken place at SUPERSIMÉTRICA, Nave Terneras de Centro Cultural Casa del Reloj, Matadero Madrid (2018); Live Works, Centrale Fies, Trento, Italy (2017); Picnic Sessions, Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid (2017); DIY Space for London (2017); múltiplos, Barcelona (2016); KAI 10, Arthena Foundation, Düsseldorf, Germany (2016); De Salonnières, La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2016) and Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2015).

Among her grants and awards are the Premio Injuve para la Creación Joven, Instituto de la Juventud, Madrid (2017); Werkbijdrage Jong Talent, Mondriaan Fonds, Amsterdam (2016–2017); Art Jove Prize for Production, Sala d’Art Jove, Barcelona (2014, 2016) and Mollet Art’14, Museu Abelló, Mollet del Vallès, Spain (2014).

Pagès has participated in residencies at Live Works, Centrale Fies, Trento (2017); Gasworks, London (2017); Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Madrid (2016); La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2016); La Caldera, Barcelona (2015); TAAK, Marfa, US (2015), among others.

She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Universitat de Barcelona (2013) and a Master of Fine Arts from Sandberg Instituut, Amsterdam (2016).

Born in 1990 in Barcelona, Pagès currently lives and works between Barcelona and Amsterdam.
