Biography
Younes Rahmoun draws inspiration for his work from interdisciplinary and complementary sources, including cosmological systems and nomadic traditions, which are supported by careful readings of Sufi texts. His work consists of installations, drawings and videos that interrogate the boundaries between popular, scientific and esoteric knowledge. Rahmoun has close links with the Rif mountainous region in Morocco and its history, and his work often involves collaborative practices. He maintains that the place of the spectator has to be determined by a certain number of cultural and phenomenological factors. Rahmoun’s installations, which are sometimes aligned with the Qibla, can be considered visual traps that play on fluctuations of light, volume and geometry.
