Biography
Born in South Korea, Sara Sejin Chang (Sara van der Heide) lives and works between Amsterdam and Brussels. Her work consists of political and poetic interventions, drawings, performances and films, through which she proposes a more inclusive modernity. Her work calls for a meditative state of mind that collapses the divisions imposed upon us by history and various neologisms in art. She has participated in exhibitions and performed internationally at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam; Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, the Netherlands; 1st Asia Biennial/5th Guangzhou Triennial, China; Kiev Biennial; 19th Biennale of Sydney; 11th Incheon Women Artists’ Biennale, South Korea; KIOSK, Ghent, Belgium; De Pont, Tilburg, the Netherlands; Fondazione Giuliani, Rome; De Appel, Amsterdam; Marres, Maastricht, the Netherlands; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, US; Temporary Gallery, Cologne; 44th International Film Festival Rotterdam; Beursschouwburg, Brussels; and WIELS, Brussels, among others.
